Brum Transport Fest runs across Birmingham city centre today and tomorrow — Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September 2026 — from 11am to 5pm each day. Entry is free and open to everyone.
The festival is spread across four squares: Centenary Square, Victoria Square, Chamberlain Square and Hippodrome Square. It celebrates the West Midlands' transport heritage and the region's history as a centre of manufacturing and innovation.
What's on
A programme of themed talks covers classic cars, Birmingham's car-building history, buses, trams, cycling, automotive design and the 1986 Birmingham Super Prix motor race. Live entertainment runs between sessions throughout both days.
Free classic bus experiences are available on both days: a 25-minute city loop on Friday, and a free shuttle between Centenary Square and Hippodrome Square on Saturday. On Saturday morning, Transport Rhyme Time for children under five takes place at the Library of Birmingham from 11:30am to 12pm. An awards ceremony closes the festival on Saturday from 4:30 to 5pm.
Getting there from Sheldon
The A45 Coventry Road provides direct bus links into Birmingham city centre from Sheldon. All four festival squares are within easy walking distance of Birmingham New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street stations, and the West Midlands Metro tram also stops nearby.
